If you would like the recruiters to focus on your skills and not so much on the work history, your best shot is to use a functional resume.
The step-by-step guide below will show you how to create it using our builder.
Start with choosing the Cascade template. Please note that the guide below is just an example. Feel free to edit other templates available in our builder.
Open 'Add & Remove sections' tab in the menu in the upper left corner. You need to adjust the sections to match the functional resume style.
First, let's add the extra section on the left side of your document. In the ADD/REMOVE SECTIONS find the 'Languages' section and click on the 'add' button. This new section will automatically appear below 'Skills' section on the left side of your document. And that's a perfect spot for it.
In the next step, you need to add two sections. Start with 'References' - after clicking the 'add' button, this section will appear at the bottom of the main section of your document. Click on the newly created section and drag and drop it between the 'Summary' and the 'Experience' section.
Now you need to change the name of this section. Click on the pencil icon of the 'References' section. A new window will appear where you can delete the existing title and put a new one - 'Skills Summary'.
When it comes to filling this section, here's where the trick is! You want to leave this section empty so that only the title is visible.
To add the main body to 'Skills Summary' you need to add one more section. Find the 'Text' section in ADD/REMOVE SECTIONS and click on the 'add' button. When the new section appears, drag and drop it just below the 'Skills Summary' section. This will be the place where you want to put the information about your skills.
As a next step, you should remove the 'Skills' section. Find it on the ADD/REMOVE SECTIONS list and click on the 'remove' button.
The last (but not least!) section you want to add to this template is the 'Software' section. Click on the 'add' button and drag and drop it below the 'Personal Info' section.
And voila! The base of your functional resume is ready.
